The Seafarer Ranks function lets you change Martide's abbreviations to your own if you have ones you prefer to use. Here’s how to do that.
Log into Martide, click Settings in the menu under your profile picture and then Seafarer Ranks:
You will go to this page:
Here you can:
See all the ranks in the system, their department, display name, and abbreviations.
Edit ranks by clicking the pen icon.
Change the order the ranks are listed by dragging and dropping the 3 lines in front of them.
Click the blue arrow button at the top to download an Excel spreadsheet containing the original name, display name, department, abbreviation, and number in the list.
You can see from the image above that our abbreviation for Chief Officer is C/O and our abbreviation for Second Officer is 2/O etc. To edit a rank, click the pen icon next to the rank you want to change. You will see this pop-up box:
Here you can:
See the original rank name; i.e. Chief Officer. You cannot change this.
See the name of the rank. Our default is the same as the original name but you can change this to whatever you want.
See the abbreviation for the rank - in this case it is C/O but you can change this to whatever you want.
Select the rank’s department from the drop-down menu.
For example, if your company uses Chief Mate instead of Chief Officer you can change it like this:
Click Save and your changes will appear on the main Ranks page:
